Croft-Ambrey

POLL HEREFORD

Croft-Ambrey stud was commenced in 1973 with the purchase of females at various dispersal and reduction sales. Females are selected for their ability to raise a superior calf each year under normal paddock conditions.

Hereford Group Breedplan is used to supplement visual appraisal to ensure the breeding programme maintains the quality and confirmation of the breed while increasing mature size, without losing the ability of the breed to be marketable from vealers to mature steers.

The most satisfying aspect so far, has been the ability of calves to grow near show condition with normal paddock fattening. Calving ease and the milking ability of females is of prime importance.

Current sires in use are:

• LJS D12E Plentiful by Plain Lake Keyne,

• Leaford Visa by Ivy Bank Hume 2,

• Allendale Sherwoord by Allendale Overton,

• Leaford Zodiac by Springfield Flashback,

• Croft Ambrey Kendrick C4(P) by Leaford Zodiac

• Croft Ambrey Jared B26 (P) by Leaford Visa.

Working age bulls and unjoined registered heifers will be available for sale on open day.
