ANGUS

Gilmandyke Angus welcomes you to inspect their Angus Stud herd and a selection of 18 month old ‘E’ bulls that will be presented for sale in September 2011. With the excellent start to the season, the cattle are in great order and well worth your inspection.

On display will be sons of AI sires Springdale Herco 600, Dunoon Reagan R093 and Skagway Waigroup 2 B9 providing outcross opportunities, as well as sons of our proven sires Te Mania Modest, Onslow Traces, Booroomooka Bando and Raff Limited Edition A68. These young sires are well grown, well muscled and structurally sound group that would be an asset to any stud or commercial breeder.

They are also great value, averaging $4350 at our bull sale in September 2010.

Our cow herd will be open for inspection. You will be impressed by the excellent, sappy calves they are rearing, including the first calves of Millah Murrah Equator D78 (our stud sire by Bear Tooth Equator 395M.) D78 was purchased in 2009 and has produced a group of exciting high growth, easy calving progeny. The “E” Heifers will be yarded so that you can see the influence of our stud and A1 sires on the herd.

Rigorous selection of our females is very important to the Gilmandyke herd management. A six week joining ensures fertility and unassisted calving at 2 years for heifers is a must, along with the ability to rear a quality calf each and every year.

These criteria are essential for a breeder to remain in the ‘engine room’ of the herd.

MURRAY GREY

Gilmandyke Murray Grey Stud was started by the Bateman family at Triangle Flat, NSW, in the 1970’s. In 2005 the stud moved to Kangaroobie, Orange where the herd of large framed cows continues to breed quality cattle.

We will have on display a selection of 18 month old bulls that have been paddock reared, without any supplementary feeding. They are growthy, well muscled and structurally correct young bulls to suit both commercial and stud breeders. These bulls will be for sale on the day.

Gilmandyke Murray Grey stud has embarked on an exciting new direction with the herd, crossing the Murray Grey cows with Brahman bulls to produce Greyman cattle.

Greyman cattle will suit a wide range of environmental conditions. The Bos Taurus content boosting fertility, muscling and meat eating quality whilst the Bos Indicus influence will ensure ease of calving and help them thrive in tough conditions. The hybrid vigour shows through in the first drop of calves which will be displayed at foot on the day. Inspect these outstanding young calves at Kangaroobie on our Central West Beef Week open day.
