LONGREACH Limousins, on the banks of the Wollondilly River, became involved with Limousin in the mid-eighties. We market Limousin bulls from our stud, confident in our own experience of their commercial impact. Limousin bulls in cross breeding produce more muscle and more cents.

We maintain about 100 breeders and in May we are holding our first on-property sale.

Limousins are known for longevity and we still have cows breeding at 16 years.

We aim for uniformity, with constant genetic improvement to maintain the muscle of the horned French, with polledness of the pure. All Longreach Limousins are part of the Limousin Assurance programme which includes assurance of fertility, docility, soundness and registered pedigree.

From limited showing, our successes include Red Rock Zucchero, by Longreach Xclamation who was sold in utero, Champion of Champions Interbreed Bull at Rockhampton 2009, and Grand Champion at Sydney Royal, Beef 2009 and the Royal Queensland Show. We still have his sire, grand dam and dam’s full sister in the herd.

One of the young bulls on display at Apsley Downs will be the full brother to the 2009 ACT Gr. Champion bull, Longreach Cavalier, also sired by Longreach Xclamation.
