MINIATURE HEREFORD

Miniature Herefords have been described as a small chunky version of the larger Herefords. In contrast to the tall long legged larger type, Miniature Herefords are thick, deep bodied; short legged, muscular and chunky. Jennie and Roy chose to breed Min. Herefords after researching the breed, seeking productive animals not detrimental to pastures or the environment.
Miniature Herefords, have great mothering skills and Hereford nature, and the well known flavour of the old traditional cattle. Historically they are the size of original Herefords. Miniature Herefords have NOT been bred down but are the small lines of the 1960’s and earlier.

WHY MINIATURE HEREFORDS?

• Easy to handle: size and placid nature make Miniature Herefords ideal, even for those who have no previous experience with cattle. Easy on pastures, dams and fences.
• Investment: herd numbers are low, for great investor potential.
• Quality meat: quality and yield is excellent, making minis a commercial reality.
• Attractiveness: to many people the Hereford is a most appealing breed purely for its looks. Min. Herefords are striking to the eye.
• Carrying capacity: potential to carry more head per hectare. An ideal alternative for small and large farmers alike.
• They have a placid nature and are therefore the ideal animal for those who have had no experience with cattle.
• Min. Herefords are hardy and withstand drought very well - better than many other breeds, showing no ill affects at all.
