Violet
Hills is situated in the Central Tablelands of NSW between Lithgow,
Bathurst and Oberon, and is a family owned and operated farm running
approximately 400 breeders, three quarters of which are purebred
Charolais.
Charolais were first introduced in 1972 and since then our aim is to produce a type of Charolais which performs in our environment and for our markets. A special emphasis is placed on producing bulls that can be used to cross with British Breed cows to produce calves for the vealer and yearling trade, as well as being suitable as “feeder” cattle.
Our property is Cattlecare accredited and the pedigree herd is in Charolais Group Breedplan.
Violet Hills steers have been very successful in carcase competitions. In 2004 and 2005 a Violet Hills steer won the Champion Heavyweight carcase award at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
In 2006 we sold the top selling bull (for $20,000) at the Australian National Sale. His semen is now being widely used by other studs in Australia.
